Previously known as “Farah Maternity Hospital”, Farah Woman & Child Hospital is the cornerstone to what has become Farah Medical Campus (FMC). Officially inaugurated in 1994 by His Majesty the Late King Hussein bin Talal, the hospital has undergone several expansions from a single story clinic in the late 1980s, to a four-story maternity hospital in the 1990s, to the eleven story iconic Woman & Child Hospital of today. As is stands, Farah Woman & Child is a dedicated purpose-built facility specializing in IVF & genetics, obstetrics & gynecology, fetal medicine, neonatal care, and pediatrics. The hospital’s legacy includes 30+ years of experience in the field of IVF, and is internationally recognized as a center of excellence in IVF, high-risk obstetrics & gynecology. The IVF unit is considered one of the largest units in the world and is involved with international regulatory bodies in setting new guidelines in this exciting field.
The anesthesia department at Farah Woman & Child has gained a great reputation for its services and is considered a referral service for obstetric, pediatric & neonate anesthesia and was one of the first departments in the country to introduce regional anesthesia for cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries. Patients as young as 1 day old and as little as 700 grams have undergone life-saving procedures at the hospital.
The hospital’s other services include plastic, dental and ENT surgeries.The hospital was also the first facility in the Middle-East to introduce MRI-HIFU, a highly advanced non-invasive technology that treats uterine fibroids.
